About
The Intelligent Embedded Systems Lab (IES Lab Freiburg) pursues top-level research on basic and applied topics of wearable computing, digital health, machine learning, mobile health, biomedical engineering, and extended realities. We integrate data to develop machine learning algorithms based on laboratory, wearable, and ambient data sources, e.g. for patient data interpretation and health knowledge extraction. Our algorithm bandwidth stretches from time series analysis to dynamic, adaptive pattern modelling, combining data models with expert models, as well as model personalisation. In addition, we develop embedded ML algorithms for very-low resource sensor devices. Furthermore we investigate novel modelling and simulation methods for in-silico evaluation of wearable and implantable sensor and actuator systems. For validation studies, we prototype wearable and implantable systems using innovative functional materials and additive manufacturing methods as well as DiGA prototypes for mobile platforms.
